THEME: LIVING BY THE WORD OF GOD (2)
TOPIC: ACCCESS TO THE WORD
BIBLE TEXT: 1kings 17: 1-14, 21-24
MEMORY VERSE: Ephesians 3:12 “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him”.
INTRODUTION
If you study deeply you’ll discover that Elijah had the word of God dwelling in him richly. He knew the word and was also connected to the word, with that he could access the word (1kings 17:1&2). Through the word, many dormant things were activated. He knew his authority in Christ by faith and by the Holy Spirit which bears witness with our spirit. (Roman 8:16). The presence of the WORD was evident in his life (I Kings 17:24). Do you have knowledge of the word and how connected are you to the word?
OUTLINES
1)       WHAT / WHO IS THE WORD OF GOD:  (John 1:14} Jesus is the WORD, He is the truth and the life. The WORD is the Bread that generates life and having it will neither make you hungry nor thirsty, it gives you everlasting life (john 6: 51, 53 and 63). The word of God (Jesus) is pure, holy and spirit (Psalm 119:140) who came that we might have life in abundance .The WORD is the full revelation of God (Col 1:19).Christ is the full embodiment and store house of all riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God (Eph 1:2), He is the wisdom, power and righteousness of the eternal God.

2)       BELIEVERS CONNECTION TO THE WORD OF GOD: Certain qualities connect believers to the word of God and are stated below;
a.        Faith: (2 Corinthians 5: 6-7)when it comes to the things of the spirit seeing is not believing (Hebrews 11:1) because without faith you can’t please God and if you can’t do that definitely you can’t gain access to the word. (Eph 3:12)
b.       Believers Authority: (1 kings 13:-38) As Believers if you’re unaware of  what you’re carrying or do not know your authority in Christ you can’t access the word (mark 15:16) With authority we fight against the devil (Eph 6: 11-17,Phil 2:9-11,Romans 8: 31,8:15)with it we make confession. Elijah and Elisha are typical examples of people that made use of the authority they had in them. Discover yours!
c.        Worship: Worshipping God with fear and trembling in spirit and in truth helps you gain access to the word (Eph 5:19, John 4: 23-24) David is a perfect example of this (psalm 119: 89, 105, 140, 162; Col 3:16). Other things that connect Believers to the word are:
d.        Praying constantly in the spirit (Jude 1:20)
e.        The love of God (Jude 1:21, John 15:9,10 and 12)
f.         Confession (1 peter 2:9, Gal 4:6-7, Romans 8:15, Matthew 5:13-16)By the WORD.

3)       ACCESS TO THE WORD:  We can gain access to the word through the help of holy spirit

a)       The Holy Spirit: The spirits of truth which help us understand the word and quicken our spirit. It is the channel that helps us gain access to the WORD of God as discussed in our last lesson on living by the WORD (Romans 16:26&27). The Holy Spirit guides and leads us and by so doing we tend to get specific directions from God in fulfilling his purpose for our lives. Maintaining a spirit filled life is the key (Eph 5:17-18). Holiness/purity+ Holy Spirit=THE WORD

Gaining access to the word does the following:
Releases power: through worship (Paul and silas, Acts 16: 25-26)
Frightens the devil: (Ephesians 6:12, Phil 2:9-11) by confession
Produces changes: (Zechariah 4: 6-7)
Causes miracles: (Acts 3: 6-8) by faith and trust
Generates life: (john 10:10, john 1:4) Proverb 14:27)
Guarantees our future forever: (1 Peter 2:9, proverb 22: 29)

IN CONCLUSION
In our next lesson will be looking at the part 3 of living by the Word (Your reflection, the word!)Put this in mind “when you have access to the word you will remain untouchable, unshakeable and unstoppable”
